Our faculty are invested in the training of tomorrow's neurosurgical leaders. Our unique environment allows for collaborative research opportunities throughout the University of Vermont community and beyond. We strive to provide a high quality of neurosurgical care and encourage our residents to become involved in both clinical and basic science research throughout their training.

Our residents enjoy a quality of life that is unique to Vermont that complements the neurosurgical training experience. Our neurosurgery program allows our residents to develop into exceptional neurosurgeons while enjoying the camaraderie within a close knit university medical practice. Each resident is completely trained in all subspecialty areas of neurosurgery enabling the resident, upon completion of training, to pursue either an academic or private practice career. Our residents are trained with graduated levels of responsibility allowing them to become highly proficient neurosurgeons. We have a small program with one resident per year, which allows for close camaraderie within the neurosurgery residents and the faculty. We are the only tertiary care academic medical center and Level 1 trauma center in the state of Vermont serving a far-reaching rural community that is appreciate of the high quality neurosurgical care that we strive to deliver.
